Funny that my 50 mile time is faster than my 50K.  Guess that's what happens when your only 50K has over 11,000' of vertical ascent =)

Zion Traverse

Squaw Peak 50 Mile

Speedgoat 50K

Wasatch 100

Personal:

I started running in April '09 and run to maintain some balance in my life.  Apparently I have an addictive personality so I figure I should do something positive with it.

Super frustrated with how my day went.  Didn't have my usual climbing gear from the start.  Oh well.  Guess I can't expect a great race when I've been plagued with injuries and only able to put in focused training for the 5 weeks leading up to the race.  Still bummed though.  Full report on my personal blog HERE.

We learned some similar lessons out there. I just wasn't trained enough for the goal I wanted. It will require patience and hard work for my training to be on par with my goals. I am re-adjusting my time goals for Wasatch too. In fact, after Speedgoat, finishing Wasatch is the goal. You did well out there and you should be happy with your downhill strength.

Learned a lot out there so I can't be too disappointed. Just had hoped for a little more. Chalking it up to a good training run in preparation for Wasatch! We've got some tough training weeks ahead.

Nice job Josh. I read and commented on your personal blog, so I won't say anything about it here. Just this, for both you and MVH, come up with a better goal then just 'finish' at Wasatch. You'll both finish, for sure. Maybe 24 hrs isn't in the stars this year (scares the hell out of me to be honest), but sub-30 or even sub-28 certainly is.

Tough day for you out there, but it says a lot that you were able to get it done with the limited training you have had this year. That course looks crazy.

Jun - I'll definitely have a time goal in mind because I know I'll finish. It just won't be that elusive sub-24 hour goal I've been shooting for. For me, anything outside of that is just a finish. Not to say it's still not possible...

Nice job out there Josh. tough races make good ones that much sweeter. With what you've been through this year, I say you killed it! Let it roll with no worries at Wasatch, you might surprise yourself. BTW glad I got the chance to fill your bottle.
