100 Mile - 27:44:46

Funny that my 50 mile time is faster than my 50K.  Guess that's what happens when your only 50K has over 11,000' of vertical ascent =)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Zion Traverse

Squaw Peak 50 Mile

Speedgoat 50K

Quest For King's

Wasatch 100

Long-Term Running Goals:

Just want to stay happy and healthy.  Bring on whatever that may entail!

Personal:

I started running in April '09 and run to maintain some balance in my life.  Apparently I have an addictive personality so I figure I should do something positive with it.

Cruiser on the BST.  Ran a pretty quick pace but made sure my form was proper in the Altras.  The first 3 miles went by without a hitch, but I must have stepped wrong or something here because my right leg really tightened up near the end.  The final mile was a combination of heel striking with the right leg and midfoot striking with the left.  I probably looked pretty ridiculous but didn't want to aggravate anything too much, so who cares what I looked like.

I care what you look like. Hopefully your clothes matched, at least. Sheesh.

I didn't even have that going for me! Pathetic, I know.

But I bet you were wearing a pair of gloves that were two different sizes. That's pretty awesome and something to be proud of.

Haha! I almost never match and I am lucky to find two gloves that are a pair when I head out! We are two of a pair jsh! I hope your leg is feeling better today!

The funny thing is, jun watched me pull the plastic tabs off the brand new pair of gloves he's referring to... and they were two different sizes! So the manufacturer paired them wrong. Felt like I was wearing a kids glove on my left hand.

Haha! It sounds like you have my luck! i always have crappy things happen to me. Glad you put them on and laughed and had a good time with it!

SO, mister, what are your plans for the next year?

From jsh on Tue, Jan 03, 2012 at 11:10:18 from 63.253.43.114

Kelli, the plan is looking a lot like 2010 with a few more adventure type runs in the mix. I'm still up in the air about trying for a fast marathon. You still planning on Buffalo again in March?

From Kelli on Tue, Jan 03, 2012 at 11:27:34 from 71.219.84.120

You know what I will say, GO FOR IT! I know you would do really well in a marathon, REALLY WELL. I am trying to convince Craig to try one also. I do love the road, though. ;o) I say you both should put in for St George and then if you get in you will know it is meant to be. Of course, if either of you are running the Wasatch 100, that is really bad timing for a fast marathon.

No Buffalo for me this year. Scott decided that we should run the Grand Slam this year, so 2012 will be completely dedicated to marathon training. I pray I can pull off just one more marathon PR so I can retire happy in 2013. THEN, I will run with the Buffalo again and hopefully do a much better job (downhill, fueling, preparing so I can actually walk when it is all over, etc).

I'll go for another marathon at some point. It won't be St George, but eventually I'll do another one.

From Kelli on Tue, Jan 03, 2012 at 22:24:13 from 71.219.84.120

Why not St George? Or do you just mean not St George this year?

Josh, I read your blog so now I see you are thinking about Salt Lake this year. I still say go for it. We will be at the half way point (my kids and I), we can even refuel you if ya need it. And then we would also cheer really loudly for you at the finish. Scott is going for a 3:10 this year. I think he got a 3:17 last year.

From jun on Tue, Jan 03, 2012 at 23:25:24 from 174.23.163.223

I won't get into the potentially controversial reasons for not wanting to EVER do St George, so I'll leave it with I'm simply not interested in punishing my legs on a course like that. I would prefer to run a relatively flat course. I realize that means I would need to either run the Layton marathon or leave the state, the latter being my preferred option.

From Kelli on Tue, Jan 03, 2012 at 23:31:04 from 71.219.84.120

Well, you could always run Park City if you want a challenge. Or you could go to Kansas.

From jsh on Wed, Jan 04, 2012 at 11:00:38 from 63.253.43.114

A marathon this year is going to be a last minute decision. Considering the course and the fact that it will be last minute, Salt Lake is really my only option if I decide to go for it.

One of these years I'll focus my schedule around a fast marathon, but I'd do it at sea level to see what I'm really capable of. This year though, I've still got the ultra bug so if a marathon happens, it's just icing on the cake.

From jun on Wed, Jan 04, 2012 at 11:11:56 from 205.158.160.209

Yeah, I forgot that PC was a pretty flat course. I would consider that. Like what Josh just said, I would like to do another one, but I think I'd really like to train and see what I could pull off. It just isn't a priority right now.

I am tentatively planning an Iron Man (oddly enough, also not St George, but for different reasons) for late 2013. So the marathon will become a focus again then.
