Funny that my 50 mile time is faster than my 50K.  Guess that's what happens when your only 50K has over 11,000' of vertical ascent =)

Wasatch 100

Just want to stay happy and healthy.  Bring on whatever that may entail!

Personal:

I started running in April '09 and run to maintain some balance in my life.  Apparently I have an addictive personality so I figure I should do something positive with it.

Didn't have much time so I decided to head up to Butler Fork.  Just went up to the Desolation Trail junction and turned around.  Perfect day out and wish I had more time to spend out there.  Looks like I'll be having to cram runs in where I can the rest of the week.

That is a great place to go for some quick elevation. Is it still really overgrown?

Be careful with running so many trails. THe news said the snakes have been out and biting quite a bit this year. I hope you are able to squeeze some miles in this week!

Fun to read your King's Peak blog. What an adventure!

Scott - The trails are still overgrown but the growth is finally starting to die down. Hopefully that bodes well for Wasatch in a few weeks.

Steam8 - Seen very few rattlers this year, but that's probably because I avoid the places where I've seen them in years past. Conditions have been perfect this year for them. Glad you liked the Kings report.

I saw one after hiking up to Lake Blanche last week. I ran down Big Cottonwood after the hike and there was one on the side of the street. It was mid morning and the road was about 10 feet from it. I was running off the side of the road and it scared me enough to scream...I was about 5 feet from it! I can't believe you haven't seen one this year! Lucky for you since you are always on the trails.

I've seen two total this year. One during my race at Squaw Peak and one on the Mill B North trail (upper S Curve). That's a huge reason I've only run Mill B North once this year, because last year I'd see one every other time I ran on it. I figure they're out in force right now so I just avoid the place since I usually run at the hottest time of the day.

Mill B North - upper S curve--I haven't ever been on that trail. Where does it go? How many miles? Where above the S curve. I don't think I have ever seen a trail there. I always just hike up to Blanche and Lillian from the bottom of the S.

To get there just park in the upper parking lot on the S Curve, then follow the steps. You'll cross the road, then head up the steps to the right and you're on the trail. People rarely hike it because there's really no destination. It's just shy of 4 miles to the Desolation Trail junction. From there you can drop into Porter Fork (Millcreek), jump on the Desolation Trail and head into Mill A Basin, or you can go straight up and tag Mt. Raymond.
